Most employers worry about staying out of the red zone and forget that number do not drive themselves. Take a step back and offload the pressure .Let the workers know that the failure or success of the organisation is guided by their moods, energy, innovation and behaviours. Make them feel special.
Model good behaviour
A leader ought to be humble and hungry. They set the tone for the rest of the employee. When you get to the job early and meet some workers already there, greet them cheerfully. That attitude shows appreciation and goes a long way.
Practise positive leadership
Positive leadership does not mean absence on negativity. It means remaining purposeful even in difficult times. Acknowledge the company is facing challenges, let the employee know that you are aware of their effort to keep things in place. Your primary job is to keep them optimistically focused on the company goals.
Fill the void
Bad economy jitters every employee. They are questioning how their job positions will be impacted and are unsure of what to do. That void is mostly replaced by negativity which spurns to more problem. As a leader, you need to keep close contact with the employee, communicate a lot. Let them know that there is nothing to worry about.
Know the energy vampires in your companies
No matter how many pep talk you offer, your effort will not go far if the non-conformist still circulate their negativity. Such individuals instil fear and even suggest who will go first come retrenchment. Such people pollute the other worker’s minds sending the entire company into mayhem .gently approach such individuals and give them a chance to get on board or they are gone.
